Arizona State University (ASU) recently showcased its London campus, highlighting its unique educational approach and diverse student body. A segment of ASU All Access featured Matt Lopez, ASU’s vice president of Academic Enterprise Enrollment, who provided insights into the offerings and learning environment at ASU London.
Distinctive Learning Environment
Located at Northampton Square on the Clerkenwell campus of City St George’s, University of London, ASU London offers six degree programs: five in engineering and technology, and one in business management. Students can pursue an accelerated pathway that allows them to earn both a U.K. bachelor’s degree and a U.S. master’s degree within four years.
Lopez emphasized that the campus does not feature traditional lecture halls; instead, it promotes hands-on learning. This methodology allows students to engage directly with their fields, particularly in engineering.
Student Engagement and Community
The fall 2026 enrollment at ASU London reached 320 students, including individuals from Arizona. During an event at the campus, a hackathon was held where students collaborated to devise solutions to various challenges, facilitating connections among new students from the U.S., the U.K., and other countries.
Shelby Connell, a business management student from Scottsdale, shared her motivation for choosing ASU London, citing a desire for new experiences and cultural diversity. She noted that within her first five days, she met peers from various global backgrounds, enhancing her educational experience.
Future Prospects
ASU London aims to foster a collaborative environment where students from diverse backgrounds tackle global issues together. Lopez mentioned the importance of different perspectives in solving societal problems, reflecting the university’s commitment to quality education and innovation.
