Beginning October 26, public transit riders in the Valley will experience a series of service changes, including expanded weekday RAPID service, the introduction of a new microtransit pilot program, and schedule updates for various Valley Metro routes.
New Microtransit Service
As part of the changes, Phoenix Public Transit will launch PHXLink, an on-demand, shared-ride microtransit pilot designed to connect riders to local destinations and other transit services. Riders will have the option to book trips via the PHXLink mobile app or by phone, meeting their vehicle at designated virtual stops. The cost for trips within the PHXLink service zones will be $2. Additional information will be available at pop-up meetings scheduled for October 20, 21, and 22.
Expanded Weekday RAPID Service
Weekday services will be enhanced on the I-10 West RAPID and I-17 RAPID routes, with trips running throughout the day from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. This expansion aims to provide riders with more options beyond the typical commute hours.
Fare Adjustments for Eligible Riders
Starting October 26, eligible riders will also be able to access reduced fares on RAPID and Express routes. Holders of reduced-fare Copper Cards or app users will have their accounts automatically updated, eliminating the need for any further action.
Route Schedule Changes
In addition to the new services, several Valley Metro routes will undergo schedule adjustments. Affected routes include numbers 1, 3, 10, 12, 13, 17, 19, 35, 43, 45, 61, 75, 80, 81, 83, 90, 96, 108, 122, 136, 138, 140, 154, 156, 184, 186, 514, 521, 522, 531, 533, 535, 542, 562, 563, 571, 573, as well as the South Mountain West RAPID, SR 51 RAPID, and Valley Metro Rail B Line.
