On November 11, 2026, the City of Phoenix will observe Veterans Day, impacting various city services and operations. Here’s how the holiday will affect residents.
Solid Waste and Transfer Stations
Curbside trash and recycling collection will proceed as scheduled on Veterans Day, with no changes in service. However, both the 27th Avenue and North Gateway transfer stations will be closed on that day.
Public Works and Libraries
The Public Works Customer Contact Center will be closed on November 11 and will reopen at 7 a.m. on November 12. Residents can reach the center at 602-262-6251 for assistance. In addition, all Phoenix Public Library locations will be closed, although book drops and digital resources will remain accessible.
Parking and Recreation Facilities
All parking meters will continue to be enforced from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., including on the holiday. City community centers will close for Veterans Day, while parks and trails will be open. Visitors are encouraged to follow safety guidelines outlined in the “Take a Hike. Do it Right.” program.
Public Transit Services
Public transit, including bus and light rail services, will operate on a weekday schedule, with no Express or RAPID service available. Customer service will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on that day, though several public transit centers will be closed. Dial-a-Ride services will be available by reservation from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Sky Harbor Airport Information
At Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, travelers are advised to reserve parking in advance and arrive early, even with a reservation. The airport is enforcing REAL ID regulations, and passengers can check security wait times online. The PHX Reserve program allows travelers to schedule their TSA screening time.
Passengers flying domestically should arrive at least two hours before departure, while international travelers should allow three hours. Navigator volunteers will be available at the airport to assist passengers with information and directions.
