Monterra at WestWorld of Scottsdale has reopened as a fully climate-controlled venue following city renovations, making it available for year-round weddings, corporate events, and community celebrations. City officials and WestWorld partners marked the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house on Oct. 23.
City Management and Venue Upgrades
This marks the first time Monterra will operate under city management since its opening in 1990. The City Council approved the transition to city operation in November 2024, allowing Monterra to function as a rental facility within the city-owned WestWorld complex. City Manager Greg Caton noted that this change will enhance the use of a community asset and expand event possibilities throughout the year.
Significant improvements have been made to the venue, including the installation of a new heating and cooling system and roof, updates to indoor and outdoor flooring, interior and exterior painting, and restroom upgrades to improve accessibility for individuals with disabilities.
Event Space and Features
Monterra boasts a ballroom complete with a full bar, three outdoor function spaces, and patios that overlook the WestWorld polo field and the McDowell Mountains. These features provide a versatile setting for various events such as corporate meetings, private parties, conventions, galas, and weddings. Cassie Johnson, WestWorld Director, emphasized the venue’s appeal, stating that it combines scenic views with convenient access for event organizers.
M Culinary Concepts serves as WestWorld’s exclusive food and beverage partner, providing catering and bar services for events held at Monterra. Daily rental rates have been set at $3,000 from Thursday to Sunday and $750 Monday to Wednesday, following a one-year pilot approved by the City Council in September and based on a market study of similar venues.
