NASA is inviting media representatives to tour a new lunar landing simulation at its Ames Research Center in California on October 29 and 30. The tour will showcase motion-based simulators designed to prepare astronauts and engineering teams for upcoming lunar missions.
Simulation Overview
The simulation is part of NASA’s Artemis program, which aims for a lunar landing by 2028. It incorporates technology developed at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston and features an upgraded simulator flight deck. Attendees will have the chance to experience a Vertical Motion Simulator ride-along and engage with subject matter experts during the tour.
Media Participation Details
Media interested in attending must RSVP by October 27 at 5:00 PM PT to the NASA Ames newsroom. Space is limited, and prior registration is required. Those confirming attendance should indicate their preferred date for the tour.
Future Lunar Missions
As part of its ongoing efforts, NASA will send astronauts on increasingly complex missions to explore more of the Moon’s South Pole region. These endeavors are expected to yield economic benefits and enhance scientific knowledge, while also laying the groundwork for future crewed missions to Mars.
