Grand Canyon National Park rescinds stage 2 fire restrictions on South Rim

Grand Canyon National Park has lifted Stage 2 fire restrictions on the South Rim due to improved water supply conditions, effective immediately. These restrictions were previously enacted to address limited water resources available for fire suppression.

Current Fire Restrictions

While Stage 2 restrictions have been rescinded, Stage 1 fire restrictions remain in effect on the South Rim. Additionally, fire restrictions at Mather Campground have been lifted, allowing campfires in designated fire rings only. Park officials urge visitors and residents to exercise caution and engage in responsible fire use at all times.

Water Conservation Measures

Stage 4 water conservation measures are still in place on the South Rim, prompting visitors to bring their own water while at the park. Meanwhile, Stage 2 fire restrictions continue on the North Rim for the remainder of the 2026 season.
